The Lab

The Lab

Create and customize your learning experience with scenarios, teaching styles, and lessons.

Overview

The Lab is where you can create and customize your learning experience. Build your own lessons by combining scenarios with teaching styles. This gives you full control over what you practice and how the AI teaches you.

Scenarios

Scenarios define the context and situation for your practice sessions. They set the stage for realistic conversations.

Examples

  • Ordering at a restaurant
  • Checking into a hotel
  • Job interview preparation
  • Casual conversation with a friend

Creating Scenarios

You have two options for creating scenarios:

  • AI Generation: Describe what you want and let AI create a detailed scenario for you
  • Manual Creation: Write your own scenario with full control over context and details

Target Language

Scenarios can target all languages (usable with any language) or a specific language (designed for a particular language with cultural context).

Teaching Styles

Teaching styles define how the AI tutor behaves during a session. They control the pacing, feedback style, and overall approach.

Examples

  • Strict grammar focus with detailed corrections
  • Conversational and relaxed approach
  • Immersive (target language only)
  • Guided with hints and scaffolding

Configuration Options

  • Instructions: Detailed guidance for how the AI should teach
  • Maximum Turns: Limit the session length (e.g., 10 turns)
  • Target Language: Works with all languages or specific to one
Lessons

Lessons combine a scenario with a teaching style to create a complete learning experience. Once created, lessons appear in your Practice page.

Creating a Lesson

  1. First, create or select a scenario
  2. Create or select a teaching style
  3. Go to the Lessons tab in the Lab
  4. Click "Add Lesson"
  5. Give it a descriptive name
  6. Select your scenario and teaching style

Managing Lessons

You can edit or delete lessons at any time. Editing a lesson allows you to change its name, scenario, or teaching style.
